Neville Longbottom and his toad Trevor

'

Neville Longbottom is a round faced boy born to Alice and Frank Longbottom, who were tortured to insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange and some other Death Eaters. He and Harry share birthdays, except for the fact that he was born hours before Harry.  the prophecy of Sybill Trelawney could have meant him, but since Voldemort tried to kill Harry, the prophecy now is  regarding Harry and Lord Voldemort. In the series, he is also mentioned to be very forgetful. He is very well-mannered because he is raised by his stern grandmother, Augusta Longbottom. His grandmother thought he was a squib, for he showed so little aptitude for magic. At school, Neville has serious problems with performing magic. His worst subject is Potions, taught by Professor Snape. On the other hand, he is very excellent in Herbology. He has a toad called Trevor. Trevor was a gift from Neville's Great Uncle Algie in recognition of the first time Neville showed magical talent.

Neville started Hogwarts in 1991 in Gryffindor. He owned a Remembrall in first year, but it was stolen by Draco Malfoy in broom-flying lesson. During Neville´s school years, he became much braver and had more self-confidence. In fifth years in Hogwarts he joined Dumbledore´s Army and he fought in a battle in the Department of Mysteries against a band of Death Eaters that included Bellatrix Lestrange.

When Dumbledore was killed and Death Eaters had Hogwarts under their control, Neville fought against them. He tried to steal the Sword of Gryffindor from Headmaster Snape's office. He was very brave in battle at Hogwarts - he killed Nagini, the last of Voldemort´s Horcruxes.

Neville is married now, his wife is Hannah Abbott, and he works for Hogwarts - he teaches Herbology.
